Home Care vs. Long Term Care?

Many of our senior population do not realize that staying in their own homes as they age is a definite option; they often think it's only for those in perfect health--or with padded bank accounts--but luckily this is not true.

Long Term Care facilities do provide wonderful-and needed--care for those people who choose it, but it's not the only option available.

Many client's decide to stay in the comfort of their own homes for as long as possible; and for those that do, Shylo is there to offer help. We'll meet with you, assess your needs and discuss care plans that are tailored to fit your requirements--whether that is for a few hours light housekeeping each week or twenty-four hour live-in care. Should specialized medical equipment be needed, Shylo can set up the home with whatever is required to safely care for the client (without disrupting the home) and can arrange for Oxygen Therapy, Physiotherapy and/or Occupational Therapy as well as any other service or equipment ordered by the Doctor (mechanical lifts; transfer belts; bath boards; shower chairs; commodes etc.). In fact, Shylo can take complete charge of all care details or work in conjunction with families, Powers of Attorney, Lawyers and Trustees.

Should you decide Long Term Care is best for you, Shylo will be happy to assist in your transition. Part of our help may be to provide on-going companionship or additional care in the Care Facility itself. Often family members live far away and need to rely on Shylo to make daily or bi-weekly visits to their loved-one to ensure continuity of care. Having a companion visit regularly and spend time one-on-one with a resident can make all the difference in the world.
